Exterior cleaning in Avalon Beach

Mid-century modern and contemporary homes on the Bangalley and north Avalon headlands, Inter-war weekenders on the flat behind the village, and Careel Bay waterfront homes on the Pittwater side, with low-rise strata in the village. Most of what we clean here dates from 1930s weekenders, 1950s to 1970s modernist houses, contemporary rebuilds, on sandstone headlands north and south of a long beach, falling west to Careel Bay.

We work around Avalon Beach and the rock pool, Avalon village on Old Barrenjoey Road, Bangalley Head and Careel Bay and the Pittwater side, on streets such as Barrenjoey Road, Old Barrenjoey Road, Bellevue Avenue, Marine Parade and Riviera Avenue. The defining exterior problem is salt and black growth on the headland homes' render and glass, moss and lichen on sandstone and timber in the shaded Careel Bay pockets, and mould on the village strata.

Homes within roughly 500 metres of the surf. Salt arrives on the nor'easter every afternoon and on southerly storms in winter, so nothing stays clean by itself: glass hazes, render streaks, stainless pits and timber greys. We schedule these homes on the shortest cycles we run anywhere in Sydney.

Field note from Avalon Beach. Avalon's mid-century houses on the headlands use off-form concrete, sandstone and timber that pressure washing would ruin; we treat them as conservation jobs, with test patches and the lowest effective pressure. Nathan G, Founder

Run-off. Anything washed off a Avalon Beach property ends up in Avalon Beach and Careel Bay unless it is stopped at the kerb. Northern Beaches Council enforces the NSW EPA rule that wash water, detergent and sediment stay out of stormwater, so we bund drains, capture run-off and vacuum-recover on sealed or commercial sites.
