Manly ward. Manly, Fairlight, the Balgowlahs, Clontarf and Seaforth sit between the ocean, North Harbour and Middle Harbour. Expect Federation and Inter-war stock in the village grids, steep sandstone blocks on the harbour, and the busiest strata market on the peninsula around the Corso.
Curl Curl ward. Queenscliff to Dee Why and back up to Allambie Heights and Beacon Hill. Surf-front strata and headland homes on the coast, lagoon flats around Curl Curl and Dee Why lagoons, and post-war family homes on the ridges above.
Narrabeen ward. Collaroy, the Narrabeens, Warriewood, Elanora Heights and Ingleside wrap around Narrabeen Lagoon. The beachfront fights salt and erosion, the lagoon flat fights damp, and the plateau behind fights leaf litter and bushfire-prone land.
Pittwater ward. Mona Vale to Palm Beach, with the ocean on one side and Pittwater on the other. Headland homes take the full ocean exposure, the western slopes sit under spotted gum canopy on soft Hawkesbury sandstone, and many homes are weekenders that need scheduled visits.
Frenchs Forest ward. Belrose, Davidson, Frenchs Forest, Forestville, Killarney Heights, Terrey Hills and Duffys Forest back onto Garigal and Ku-ring-gai Chase national parks. Gutters, roofs, long driveways and tennis courts dominate, and most blocks are mapped bushfire-prone.
Northern Beaches Council covers Manly to Palm Beach and west to Duffys Forest across five wards. The council describes contaminated stormwater as the biggest source of water pollution on the peninsula, and almost every street drains to a lagoon, Pittwater, Middle Harbour, Manly Dam or a beach.
